Quick question. Do you guys stack plates or do you use bricks and then place the plates on top of the bricks?

Hey Karhn,
Your question is kind of vague and open ended. Do you mean when we build, or what? We will definitely help you if we know what you mean!

I've moved this to a new thread, as it's not LoR related at all. Karhn, can you please provide an example of what you're referring to? Sometimes I use bricks and sometimes I use plates, so I'm not sure in what context you are asking the question. Are you talking about a certain technique?

when you are building the base of the moc so lets say you are building a 16x16 and you use plates to make the 16x16 base. Do you prefer to stack more plates on top of base or do you prefer bricks, or how about when using a base plate do you use bricks first then plates or just use plates. This is all for how you use to show the setting i.e. mountainous, grassland, etc

Oh, OK. So basically how to do the landscape, right? In that case, it totally depends on what parts you have, what kind of landscape you want to build, and (most importantly) your own building style. In the example below, the snow areas are built with plates, and the rocky areas are built with bricks. GC XI - Secrecy - Mikithdar Stronghold by Jordan, on Flickr

I use strange colored bricks... it's faster, one brick is as thick as 3 plates so you save parts... ofc only when i go that high in landscape

as a general rule I try to avoid base plates, they constrict me and make it difficult to expand and usually isnt too sturdy if i move the moc. I usually use plates for structure because it makes the moc stronger and takes up less space/weight then bricks.

I suggest to use as many bricks as possible. Mostly because my collection of landscape-colored plates is limited.
