Sling Mau quickly saw that his opponent was on guard and using his concealment to move in an upward direction unseen, leapt out of the shadows upon the knight. ------------------------------------------------------- Stats to come via PM.

The doctor steps through the door and looks ahead of him to see a giant stone golem awaiting his entry. This confounding maze has already taken its toll on him. Low on health and without his companion by his side as a voice of reason. And very frustrated, an seemingly upset Doctor, raised his sonic screwdriver and screamed "I have no time for this I really must be going!" And with that a blast of energy emits from the tip of the screwdriver. The doctor submits: 12-strength 11-magic 11-skill The blast of energy shook the room (strength 12 + dice 3 = 15) with the stone golem taking the full brunt of the impact (golem strength 5 + dice 2 = 7. Golem takes 8 damage. 5 health remaining).Buoyed by his first victory and with no time to waste, the Doctor changed a setting on his screwdriver and sent another wave, lower pitched this time (magic 11 + dice 1 = 12). The low rumble trembled through the room, the rubble and dust shaking along the cobbles of the floor. The frequency seemed to impact the golem in a peculiar way, as it stumbled a fell, seemingly losing the ability to maintain its monstrous form (golem magic 4 + dice 4 = 8. Golem loses 4 health... 1 remaining). With the golem crumbling and attempting to reform the doctor took his final attack. He pressed a button on his device and threw it at the centre of the golem. It stuck fast in a crevice, then whistled and beeped, beginning to vibrate and emit another high frequency squeal (skill 11 + dice 4 = 15). The stone monster began to shudder and shake then with a final blast he burst into a shower of rock (skill 4 + dice 3 = 7. Golem takes 8 damage... dead).
The room was filled with smoke and dust as the doctor began to brush himself off. He walked over to the pile of rubble, retrieved his screwdriver and placed it into his inside pocket. He had won a quick victory, but did he have enough left in the tank to make it to the centre of the maze? -------------------- The Doctor loses no health and gains 1 luck for a successful conflict. Rulf the Orange and the ninja known as Sling Mau have found their paths to have crossed... who will exit victorious? The ninja skillfully darted into a corner (skill 7 + dice 4 = 11) avoiding the veteran knight's quick strike (skill 5 + dice 4 = 9), with Mau then striking back, catching the knight offguard (Rulf loses 2 health). Mau launched another powerful attack from his perch (strength 5 + dice 3 = 8), which Rulf attempted to block (strength 5 + 1 = 6) but he stumbled and the ninja yet again injured him (Rulf loses 2 health). Sling Mau, seizing his advantage cast a spell of concealment and slashed again at the knight (magic 5 + dice 6 = 11). Rulf launched a defense, and their swords clashed preventing a killer blow (magic 5 + dice 5 = 10), but the force of the attack knocked the veteran knight to his knees (Rulf loses 1 health), and in a flash the Ninja was gone. Rulf picked himself up and dusted himself off. He was injured and thought it best to wait for moment rather than pursue his unknown assailant into the darkness. ----------
Sling Mau gets 1 luck for a successful conflict, with Rulf losing 1 luck and 5 health. Sling Mau also gets 3 gold for a MOC and 'steals' 2 gold from Rulf for bdeing the victor. Josdu, please post an in forum comment as to what direction/door you exit by. Fritzix, you must wait until Josdu has chosen his door as you cannot follow him

Mau cast a quick glance up each corridor and then slipped off to his right. It annoyed him to head back towards where he had come from, but he sensed it was a good direction to head.

Round 6 - Time waits for no man
The labryinth shook and shuddered, rubble and dust falling from the ceiling. The Doctor paused, "Surely not another golem?" he thought. It wasn't, and after a brief aftershock he thought it safe to carry on. Drinlarr looked down at his map, and was surprised to see the entire outer ring of rooms fade and disappear as if to dust "Most peculiar he muttered" wondering what it could mean. It was almost as if the rooms had fallen away into a nothingness... The others warriors scattered throughtout the maze wondered what these tremors could mean, but what they all where in agreement on however was that they would need to speed up their quest if they hoped to escape alive...
(MESSAGE TO ALL PLAYERS - From now on, all players must choose their next TWO doors. ie Room 1 - left, Room 2 - straight on. Should there be a monster in your first room I will roll a dice and if it is a 4,5 or 6 you will skip the monster and pass successfully onto your next room. Those with current 'luck' will get a corresponding amount of re-rolls to avoid this first possible monster. Remember you can gain or lose luck by successful or unsuccessful battles. Any questions - ask in the sign-up thread)
After the tremors and dust died down, Astrid the Valkyrie brushed herself off and continued through the door straight ahead... The room was the same as the last, with four doors, one on each wall, although the door straight ahead appeared to be shut, possibly locked. Stood clawing at the door was an imp. It screeched and yelled at the solid wooden structure as if the door had been quickly shut in it's face. The imp became aware of Astrid's presence in the room and turned it's rage towards her instead, gnashing it's jagged teeth and flailing it's pointed claws.
Imp Skill 3 Magic 2 Strength 1
----------------
Astrid may fight the Imp by submitting stats in the forum as usual or she may use her invisibility cloak to escape. Using the cloak uses 2 magic and 1 health. If you don't have enough magic it will cost you 3 health. Fenrir, submit your choice and your next TWO path decisions in the forum using a short story a MOC if you wish. Deadline Sept 18th (Sunday).
Meanwhile, in another part of the labryinth, the Doctor was also dusting himself off. He was in desperate need of regeneration, and hoped that his next path would lead him closer to his escape. He took the door straight ahead and entered a room similar to the last. Four doors, one on each wall and the room seemed fairly empty apart from that. What did catch his eye however was a helmet gathering cobwebs and dust in the corner of the room. He scanned it with his wand. "Hmm, it appears to have strengthening properties within the metal" he pondered.
---------------
The Doctor may try and take the helmet by a random roll. If he rolls a 5 he can take the helmet and will gain 5 strength. He can 'boost' his dice score by submitting magic points. eg if a 4 is rolled he would need 1 magic to make it up to the 5 required. Any unused magic points will be returned to him (eg you submit 3 but only need the 1 point, 2 will be returned). As you have 1 luck you will also get 1 bonus roll. Lil-Curt, submit your choice and your next TWO path decisions in the forum using a short story a MOC if you wish. Deadline Sept 18th (Sunday).
The warlock known as Malekk was however not as fortunate in his room choice. After defeating a goblin the warrior had chosen to go straightahead. The room he entered had four doors, again one on each wall, and a large pile of rubble on the floor. Malekk reasoned that the ceiling must have caved in following the tremors he had recently felt. Another the room began to shake again and Malekk waited for it to pass assuming it was yet another aftershock... however this time it wasn't the maze that caused the tremor, but it was in fact the pile of 'rubble' in the centre of the room. Malekk stepped back as the rocks and stones began to tower above him forming themselves into the shape of the stone golem...
Golem Strength 5 Magic 4 Skill 4
---------------
Drakk, submit your points in forum to combat the golem using a short story and a MOC if you wish. Please include your next TWO path decisions in the footnotes. Deadline Sept 18th (Sunday).

Astrid was getting tired, all the fights had brought her to her limit and seeing the Imp didn't affect her morale in a positive maner. That's why she didn't think twice about using the invisibility cloak as an escape. (Using 3 health) Putting on the cloak in one precise movement she disappeared. Giving her the chance to take the door to her right and (If the next room is empty) immediately taking the door to her left.

Looking down at the helmet the doctor decides to try to pick it up. Doctor submits 3 magic. After that the doctor will choose to go straight ahead again. and then in the next room hang a right. The Doctor, sensing some strengthening properties in the helmet leant down to pick it up. He grasped it firmly and pulled (dice roll of 1... +3 submitted magic = 4. Roll of 5 needed...). "Hmmm, mysterious... it seems to be stuck" thought the Doctor. He scanned it again and then readjusted his position... He pulled at the armoured headgear again (Doctor has 1 luck so gets another go). It shifted slightly (dice roll of... 1! +3 submitted magic = 4. Roll of 5 needed...) but seemed to be stuck fast... "Hmmm, even more mysterious" he pondered. The helmet remained unmoved and the Doctor felt he was losing 'time', which was a new experience for him, and it made him feel uncomfortable, so he abandoned the headpiece and set off for the door straight ahead. ---------- The Doctor uses up his 3 submitted magic but it's not enough. Tough luck, but I forgot to add anything about damage in my original challenge so perhaps you should instead count yourself lucky...

Malekk stumbled into the room, leaning on fallen stones throughout the room as he struggled forward. As the rumbling echoed throughout the chamber, the swell of magic emanating from the floor snapped the warlock to his senses. He reacted instinctively, drawing his dark sword and bringing this magic to bear against the imminent threat. A massive stone fist erupted from the rubble, enveloping him in a vice-like grip. The glowing crystals stirred beneath the layer of stone and illuminated the massive golem as it took its shape. As Malekks's remaining life force began to leave his tired body, his companion hissed its displeasure and asserted its dominance on the warlock's mind, taking possession of the failing body. Malekk's normally grim eyes went white and his grimacing face went as emotionless like the puppet he had become. With alien fury, he fought back against the massive golem. The strength and ferocity of his magic on loan from ancient beings. Will it be enough to defeat the merciless construct....? 10 str 7 magic 8 skill ----------------- If Malekk survives, he goes right then straight ahead (I think I'm reading the map correctly hah!)

Malekk vs the Golem
Malekk's normally grim eyes went white and his grimacing face went as emotionless like the puppet he had become. With alien fury, he fought back against the massive golem. He launched a ferocious attack on the stone creature (Malekk strength 10 + dice 3 = 13, Golem strength 5 + dice 6! = 11. Golem takes 2 damage. 12 remaining) the golem reeled and roared in anger.
The alien creature hissed and embued the warlock with a dark power, Malek cast a spell and the golem shuddered in the blast (Malekk magic 7 + dice 4 = 11, Golem magic 4 + dice 3 = 7. Golem takes 4 damage. 8 remaining). The golem started to crumble, using all his might to retain his form.
Malekk took this advantage to leap upon the golem's craggy back, as the monster flailed its giant fists at the warrior (Malekk skill 8 + dice 5 = 13, Golem skill 4 + dice 3 = 7. Golem takes 6 damage. 2 remaining).
With a final roar of arcane energy Malekk swung his dark blade at the golem's neck. Stone and rubble flew as the colossal creatures crusty cranium came crashing to the cobbles below (Malekk strength 10 + dice 4 = 14, Golem skill 5 + dice 2 = 7. Golem takes 7 damage.... dead).
The warlock breathed heavily, his eyes returning from white to their normal grim hue and the alien symbiote hissed and retracted to his back. The monster was defeated and Malekk choose to continue his quest through the door straight ahead.
--------
Malekk gains 1 luck for a succesful combat and 3 gold for a fun MOC.

Finding the door ahead to be locked, Drinlarr the barbarian decided to take the door to his right, and as he was briefly distracted looking down at his moving map he soon realised that his time in the junior barbarian orienteers had perhaps been mis-spent as he almost tumbled to his death. The room he entered had a door on each wall but floor of the room was a cavernous hole. It wasn't so deep that you wouldn't be able to climb out, however the razor sharp daggers sticking out of the bottom would surely kill any warrior that stumbled in and there seemed to be a number or rotting skeletons at it's base as if to prove that point. He would have to edge his way around to the next door using the stone wall as handholds, a task that perhaps his stout frame wasn't particularly designed for.

Ak, please submit your points in the forum using a short story. You may also include a small 8x8 MOC if you wish. Once you've done this I'll crunch the numbers and write up the result, then move on to the next player. Deadline - Thursday!
Nearby in the labryinth, the faun Fa'ya'yo was experiencing his own difficulties in direction, as he felt, and indeed appeared to be, walking round in circles. He took a left turn and ended up in a room with four doors, one on each wall. Also in the room was a slithering, slobbering vilderbeast, it's teeth like razors glinting in the gloom. "Oh deary me..." said the usually chirpy faun.

Elsewhere, Sling Mau, the ninja, also appeared to be doubling back on himself. The room he entered however appeared to be empty, apart from the four exits he was becoming used to, which felt like a stroke of luck that his new path had granted him. In one of the corners of the room were there remains of a warrior that perhaps hadn't been as lucky.
The skeleton was wearing the remnants of some archaic armour, most of it having decayed over time. His sword however still shimmered and glinted as if it had been forged only yesterday. The ninja recognised it as an ajnin blade, made from a rare metal and stronger than the sword Mau currently was wielding.
Warrior Sword (+1 to every strength attack)
- If you choose to take the sword you will gain +1 to every dice roll when using strength. You can 'buy' it for 5 gold, or if you don't have enough you can leave the rest to the dice. eg If you submitted 2 gold, you will need a dice roll of 3 (or more). If you DON'T roll enough, you will take 2 damage. You can roll as many times as you like but will take 2 damage every time until you roll enough. Please submit how much gold or how many dice roll attempts you would like to have before quitting.

Our final warrior, Rulf the Orange, still reeling from his battle and defeat against the nimble ninja, instead took the left door from the chamber that had been their battleground. He briefly noticed the four doors, but before he could decide on his next route felt a crushing sense of despair... his body ached... his mind began to cloud over... could he continue?.. was he doomed to die in this maze?... little did he know that his mind had been attacked by the evil creature that lay in the shadows.

"What luck to attend my resent turns," Mau muttered while cautiously wedging his present Katana 'tween the rocks and the sword. "Only, of course, I don't believe in luck." He then gently applied his strength to loosen the tempting weapon. ----------------------------------------------------- Sling Mau submits 4 gold. Hope it's not cheating to thus ensure that I get the sword (I assume 1 is the minimum roll) without going all out with five gold ... just call it clever . One dice roll before 'quitting' (but of course he's sure to succeed). Afterwards Mau will go straight, and then double back and reenter the sword room (assuming he can pick up the key just fine...).

Sorry. BrickCon weekend has me scrambling.
Drinlarr inched his way along the wall, wishing he'd paid more attention to how the elves and forest rangers were able to so effortlessly glide past such obstacles.
Drinlarr submits equal points to the rating of his obstacle. If successful, he'll continue east, which he believes is straight ahead on his current heading. His next move will depend on the outcome of the first, so he forfiets planning that move at this time. He's looking for something (or someone?).

Rulf felt exhausted, dark thoughts were overflowing his head ... His recent defeat by the inscrutable ninja was aching and hurt his confidence, even a thought of giving up occured in his mind ... But he knew that there was something much more dangerous than his own mind, hiding in the shadows and causing this violent spectres. Rulf Magic 4 Skill 4 Strength 3 Health 14
------------------
Eye of Despair Magic 4 Skill 3 Strength 2Rulf searched the darkness for his hidden foe, summoning an energy to draw it out (Magic 4 + dice 1 = 5), the beast however struck back (Magic 4 + dice 4 = 8. Rulf loses 3 health). The Knight cried out and in a raging lunged at the shadows (skill 4 + dice 3 = 7), the shadows however were the creatures domain and it again lashed back (skill 3 + dice 6 = 9. Rulf loses 2 health...). The veteran warrior had survived battles worse than this, so unperturbed swung his sword again into the darkness (strength 3 + dice 4 = 7) but the evil beast was quicker, narrowly avoiding the warriors blow (strength 2 + dice 6 = 8. Rulf loses 1 health).
With despair beginning to cloud his mind, the knight began to doubt his ability to win this battle. Perhaps after all these years, this was to be his final fight. Doomed to die in the depths of this dank, dark dungeon? He tried to shake the thoughts from his head and again summoned an energy in an attempt to draw the beast out from its hiding place (magic 4 + dice 4 = 8). The evil creature writhed and rasped in the shadows, battling against the warrior's spell (magic 4 + dice 4 = 8. Equal). Sensing movement Rulf sliced his sword into the shadows (skill 4 + dice 2 = 6), but the creature was equally skilled avoiding the blade (skill 3 + dice 5 = 8. Rulf loses 2 health...). Rulf slashed again and again at the darkness that surrounded him (strength 3 + dice 3 = 6) but to no avail (strength 2 + dice 4 = 6. Equal).
The knight, beginning to tire of these 'games', again sought the beast in the darkness (magic 4 + dice 1 = 5) but the eye continued to evade the end of the warrior's blade (magic 4 + dice 3 = 7. Rulf loses 2 health... 4 remaining). This time the eye took the offensive, darting out of the shadows at the unsuspecting warrior (Eye skill 3 + dice 6 = 9. Rulf skill 4 + dice 2 = 6. Rulf loses 3 health...). Rulf staggered back, attempting to defend himself, he would not allow himself to defeated by this beast. With a mighty roar he slashed back at the evil beast (strength 3 + dice 4 = 7) and the creature screamed in pain as the sword connected (strength 2 + dice 2 = 4. Eye loses 3 health... finally).
Feeling that luck was finally on his side (Rulf uses 1 luck to avoid a deathblow...) Rulf tried for one last time to draw the creature out of the shadows (magic re-roll 4 + dice 6 = 10!) and the Eye writhed and shrieked as it became visible for the first time, losing it's ability to invade the warrior's mind (magic 4 + 1 = 5. Eye loses 5 health!). With the monster now visible, Rulf skillfully struck again (skill 4 + dice 3 = 8), the monster let out a high pitch wail (skill 3 + dice 2 = 5... Eye loses 3 health... and dies) shuddered and burst into a ball of light, briefly illuminating the room. Then room returned to it's normal gloom, but somehow the darkness now felt different. Gone was the pervading thoughts of despair that the knight had previously battled, and instead a renewed hope that he might somehow, though perhaps barely, escape this infernal maze. ----------
Rulf loses 13 health... and was definately unlucky (He has 1 health remaining by my count). Uses 1 luck to avoid a deathblow but gains 1 luck for a victory. +1 gold for getting your stats in on time and as an apology for me taking so long to write it all up.
