As we are unlikely to see a 'pure' castle theme for the next couple of years, I thought it might be worth having a thread where people can mention new parts/useful parts for castle builds that are found in other themes. eg Elves, Star Wars, Ninjago, Superheroes, Friend etc (and I guess to some extent - Nexo Knights - although being a 'castle' theme, these parts might be more obvious). This thread was mainly prompted by me seeing this new 'hourglass' piece in this Elves set, that otherwise might be overlooked by hardcore Castle MOCers. 41173 Elvendale School of Dragons by Brickset, on Flickr brickset.com/sets/41173-1/Elvendale-School-of-DragonsIn fact the whole set has some quite nice pieces, and a load of new stuff also. brickset.com/sets/41173-1/Elvendale-School-of-Dragons

What do you guys think about the angry birds sets? (Please keep this thread for finds and suggestions, rather than speculation. If you've found some good parts in the Angry Birds sets, then please mention them ~ Andhe )

Great finds, Andhe. The hourglass and the wood-grain round tile are really terrific new parts!

Continuing my sporadic series of 'discoveries' is this upcoming Ninjago set. Ninjago has always had a number of great fantasy elements, but this new dragon really stood out to me as being a better 'fit' for a generic/european fantasy situation rather than the oriental flavour most previous dragon builds have had. Also the set isn't full of vehicle/non-castley parts, which has always been a bit of a problem with previous sets in the theme. There isn't a complete parts list yet but I particularly like the dragons wings. One to look out for should it ever hit discount. brickset.com/sets/70593-1/The-Green-NRG-Dragon

I agree with you about the ninjago themes. I'm also looking at that catapult to possibly fix up for some cool lookin no scopes.

Frozen Arendelle Castle Celebration 41068 has interesting colored pieces. It has small leaves in white and the standard grass stalks in lavender. A bit more exciting is that Angry Birds sets now have printed boards! This is the second time (first time since LotR) they have been available if I've been vigilant in searching. They are not available on bricks and pieces at the moment, but who knows, and there's always bricklink.

I'm probably way behind the times here, but I just found out about the new Ghost Rider / Hobgoblin set that's set to release this month, and I'm super excited about the figs in this one! The Hobgoblin is almost ready-made to be converted to a castle-themed fig, and the Ghost Rider hair will definitely be a highly-coveted piece, just to be used as fire. At only $19.99, I'm hoping that the parts will not be too hard to come by. Also, the fire hair will make another appearance in the set that features the new Green Goblin variant. On the DC side, the new Ra al Ghul fig also looks like he'll be good for a Lenfel baron

The fire head piece is actually fused to the head, so comes as one piece. Slightly reducing it's reusability. I'm all for hoods in new colours however.

Haha, that is kind of a not all that useful looking piece, but it is pretty cool!

Way to burst my bubble, Andhe. dzidek1983, I think we can omit obvious castle parts from this discussion (ie, Nexo knights) as this thread is for parts in themes other than castle (which I think we all consider Nexo to be, at least to some extent). In other words, we are trying to highlight parts from themes that castle builders might otherwise not be looking at.

I agree. Also, the ninja arent that bad, and some of the sets hace nice pieces. In addition, it's labeled "The Hands of Time"...
