Only two entries so far?? Come one guys, don't miss out on this one! I managed to snag a couple of minifigs before the take-no-prisoners movers swooped in and packed up all of my Lego, so I'll be posting a figs-only entry sometime this week

Here's my entry - Odins Hook! This is my first Fishing Tournament wish us luck! Ever since Gunnarr was a wee lad he had always hoped to join in Garheims' annual fishing tournament. He would watch from the docks as the ships headed out to find Gaheims' biggest fish and he wouldn't leave until they had all returned and the winners announced. As he grew older his chores and eventually travel to distant lands as a mercenary kept him from fulfilling his dream of one day testing his mettle against the skills of his fellow countrymen. As chance would have it this year Gunnarr happens to be home at the opportune moment. With his next journey looming on the horizon his hopes are set high to bring home the first prize to keep his family comfortable during his absence. Well that and he's as giddy as a school girl to finally enter the tourney but you didn't hear that from me. You know because hes a big bad merc and all. Don't want to ruin the image. Alvis Angul a recently (Medically) retired knight has just taken possession of his dream vessel 'Odins' hook'! she was paid for literally with an arm and a leg. Well at least a hand. His hand was lost while on his last expedition to explore the new Islands that has all the land buzzing and is causing quite a stir. While examining a cave he saw an unusual stone glimmering in the dark he reached down and picked it up. As he marveled at its wonder he noticed two more further back in the cave. At least that's what he thought. It happened to be a creature he was unfamiliar with and faster than you can say Baldr!!! its was gone. The hand that is. But i digress finding that treasure did prove useful despite the cost. It was used to create one of the finest fishing vessels in Garheim possibly even all the lands of Roawia. Its sole purpose to land the biggest creature ever hoisted by a Garhim. Alvis has concluded that there is no better friend in all Roawia he would bring him with him on this maiden voyage than yep, you guessed it Gunnarr Leidolf. Fisherman : Gunnar Leidolf Skills : Lure - 1, Skill - 2, Luck - 3 Location : Jharton Bay - Q4, W3, S5 Though Gunnar is a skilled hunter and fisherman hes much better at killing for money. He will look to Anguls experience and guidance to reel in their massive catch! Fisherman : Alvis Angul Skills : Lure - 2, Skill - 2, Luck - 2 Location : Kregand's Crater Q6, W6, S7 "Go big or go home" Alvis says. His years of experience as a high seas fisherman in the years before his knighthood will serve him well in this years tourney. if there's one thing he knows its where to find and how to land monster fish... His ship was made for one thing and one thing only finding the biggest beast in all Garheims' waters and slapping it on the deck! Comments and criticism are welcome and appreciated! especially since this is my first event. Ageirr Ability: Lure 2, Skill 1, Luck 3 Location: Lake Mikithdar Ageirr is a young man (this is his 17th summer) that is a fifth generation fisherman. He has learned a lot of tricks from his family, but he best skill is his luck in catching the biggest fish. While most of his family were killed by the Queen's men two years ago, this year he has move on and is currently attempting to win the hand of a young maiden that is the daughter of the baker.. Trygve VarangerAbility: Lure 2, Skill 3, Luck 1 Location: Kregand’s Crater Trygve is a competent fisherman grew up near the the Gulf of Fishes but two and a half years ago moved up near Kregand’s Crater. Trygve continues to hold fast that his small craft is the best for this area. The custom boat is made to handle the warm water and hold his fishing pole / anchor combination to catch only the biggest fish! LC27 - Garheim 4th Annual Fishing Tourney by gurusql, on Flickr

Please enjoy!
Guerric and Igny by Mark of Siloam, on Flickr Fisherman: Guerric (left) Abilities: Lure 3, Skill 2, Luck 1 Location: The Howling Seas Q 2, W 6, S 6 Guerric has been fishing since before he could stand, riding out with his father once or twice while his mother was busy. He’s been fishing more and more often- spending as much time as he can out in a boat. If you don’t find him in a boat, he’ll probably be found making lures to test out the next time he gets his feet into a boat. His latest lure is a large piece of elk flesh. People of his home town give him some weird looks at times, but give him amazed looks each time he brings in the new largest fish. ____________________________ Fisherman: Igny (right) Abilities: Lure 1, Skill 1, Luck 4 Location: Kregand’s Crater Q 6, W 6, S 7 (sum of two rolls, up to 7) Igny is not a fisherman. But he has everyone convinced he is. The best his lures get are a few crumbs of his lunch. With the rumors of a huge sea-monster waiting to be caught, Igny’s fans have pressured him into catching it. They have confidence in his abilities to catch a sea-monster as large as a small ship and bring it back singlehandedly. He’ll fish anywhere to try to keep up his reputation. A memorable quote: “My biggest fishes that’s I’s catched has been without bait, so why should I use the stuff and toss my lunches into the water?”

Lands of Roawia - Fourth Annual Garheim Fishing Tournament by Jordan, on Flickr Name: Curts Jurgison Abilities: Lure 1, Skill 4, Luck 1 Location: The Howling Seas - Q 2, W 6, S 6 Curts is the son of Jurg Throdhook. He is a young but able seaman, having been raised around boats his entire life. He yearns for adventure, and is going to try his hand on the always-treacherous Howling Seas for this, his first tournament. He's inexperienced with the lure, but a master on the rudder, which should be a good combination for the bountiful but rough northern water. Name: Jurg Throdhook Abilities: Lure 3, Skill 2, Luck 1 Location: Jharton Bay - Q 4, W 3, S 5 Jurg is far past his prime, but his many years of experience mean that he still has a few tricks up his sleeve. He is too old to risk the Howling Seas with his son Curts, so he'll be plying his craft on the much safer waters of Jharton Bay this year.

FOURTH ANNUAL FISHING TOURNAMENT RESULTS!
It was a cold and cloudless night outside the great hall of Mikithdar – it was the kind of night that visitors to Garheim would say was chilling them to the core, but natives knew that colder weather was on the way. The guard stood outside trying to stay focused on his duties while at the same time not missing anything that was happening inside. With Maldrake and the Queen defeated, Jhirian Eindrik was back in charge of the fourth annual fishing tournament. This year a smaller crowd came for the celebration. Only seven fish were caught from all the people in the tournament and all of those were hung up with a curtain stopping the casual observer from guessing the winner.
Without introduction and without ceremony Jhirian raised his hands urging the crowd noise to decrease. When the volume level got to a low enough point he bellowed out, “Welcome friends, family and other relations. Today, we have gathered here for the fourth annual Garheim Fishing tournament. This is a competition not only between the residents of Garheim, but with Mother Nature herself. I want to say a hearty congratulations to all who took part. You all did not come here to hear me speak, but to hear some great fishing tales. So with that in mind let’s hear the first tale. First up is our lone fisherman from Lake Mikithdar – Ageirr tell us about your catch.”
The young man stepped forward, cleared his throat and said in a weak voice – "For the third year in a row I pulled a nice fish out of the Lake. I can tell you that this is just about the largest fish that has come out of the Lake, a 3 foot fish."
"Thank you Ageirr, next is our lone angler from the Gulf of Fishes - Stoic Grunold" said Jhirian
"I decided to come down the Gulf of Fishes to get my mind off of recent events and try have a kind of re-birth. Perhaps I should spend more time fishing, because I was able to pull a 4 foot tuna out of the gulf. I am betting that it will be the biggest fish in the completion!" bellowed out Stoic.
Wanting to keep things moving, Jhirian said "Next we can move to Jharton Bay. This year we have two fishermen in the Bay. Gunnar Leidolf and Jurg Throdhook. Gunnar why don’t you tell us about your experience."
The only man wearing armor in the room steps forward, he says in a deep and formal voice, "While I was honored to be part of this competition, the fish were not biting in my part of the Lake. - Jurg" said Gunnar as he motioned to a person to his left.
As Jurg stepped forward, it was obvious that he had lived through many winters on the water. He cleared his throat and said "You are right Gunnar, it takes a fisherman with years of experience to be able to pull a prize fish out of Jharton Bay this time of year. Luckily I am that fisherman and I too brought home a 4 foot Jharton Cod."
"That only leaves two fishing locations to go – let’s move to the Howling Seas" said Jhirian
Bison stepped forward and said 'I spent most of the spring and summer building my new ship the Dragon’s Blood. I was out in the open ocean and noticed that the sharks had returned to the area. I had baited my line to catch tuna and was able to pick up a fair sized tuna, but in the end and was pulling it out of the water, when my extra thick fishing line had a snag. As I was clearing the snag one of the blue shark went after my tuna. I managed to pull in the shark, which is also 4 feet long."
Angstrom stepped forward and said "For a moment I had a swordfish, but the nose on the beast cut my line."
Next was Guerric, a young man full of confidence. "I used my famous elk meat lure and I was able to pull in a nice tuna. It was a little on the younger side but still a solid 2 foot fish."
"I guess that leaves me", said Curts Jurgison, "I did not find all the tuna and sharks that you have been talking about. But I did manage to catch a 1 foot long cusk and can’t wait to cook it up."
"Eight fishermen down and six to go" said Jhirian. "We are down to one location, the most dangerous of all Kregand's Crater. Before I let each of the fishermen tell their tale, I need to speak for the one fisherman who cannot speak for himself tonight, Trygve Varanger took his custom boat back out into the Crater as he has for the past four years, this time one of the big ones tails hit and smashed his boat. He was burned by the hot waters of the Crater and is recovering at home. Brave fishermen from the Crater tell me your yarns."
The only dwarf in the tournament was next, stepping forward he said "I am Fornmir Sharkbait and tested my skills in Kregand’s Crater, for a few moments I had a huge fish, but in the end this time he escaped my line."
A season fisherman wearing a blue hood stepped forward, before he spoke he pulled down is hood. "My name is Arthur Gorvic and while I thought I had a chance to come home with the big fish today, I must have not had the right lure because I was not able to bring in the big one - this time."
"I know that my lure made from the leftovers of my sandwich is the perfect lure, I just think that the Crater was over-fished this year," said a young fisherman named Igny, "I to was unable to get any bites."
"Over fished or not, I took out my new ship Odins’ Hook and was able to get a few nibble so I know the fish were out there, I just was not able to pull one in this time." said Alvis a long time knight of the realm.
"I believe that that brings us to our final fisherman – Arnault Stormstrang – how about to tell everyone about your catch." said Jhirian.
A young man with a bowl haircut stepped forward obviously flustered that his ending had been given away and he said "Ahh, like my older brother, I had one of the larger beasts on my line. After reeling him in for just under 2 hours my pole cracked but even with a cracked pole I continued to fight. I was finally able to get the animal on deck, that is when I realized that it was a 4 foot bluefish."
Jhirian stepped forward and said "With that being our final tale I want to remind you that you should all be proud of the hard work that each of you put forward regardless of if you came home with a fish. We do however have an interesting result – there are four fishermen that returned with a 4 foot fish a spectacular result! Congratulations to you all. However there can be only one Champion of the Fishes. So as you know the tie breaker in this case is the best combined length from the two fishermen that registered together. So that means that Curts Jurgison and his one foot fish is the tie breaker so the winner is Jurg Throdhook, this year’s Champion of the Fishes!"
