This is similar to how I see it too. The mainland is mostly magic free, and free of all the other races as said in the lore, but there are those who still practice and live on the mainland in the shadows of society. The Magic Isles and swamps of the Badlands are filled with the other races and is more like that of a high fantasy setting, like LOTR and the Hobbit, and to some extent the Elder Scrolls series. That's what I like about LOR. It has a good mix of both styles, and has a lot of room to improvise and expand upon. Yes I agree, that's what I like too, you can cater to a lot of different people that way. edit* sorry about the multiple posts, I'm used to forums were posts get auto-merged

Instead of "relations" what about "Friendly toward: _____"
Example: Orcs Friendly toward: Cyclops, Trolls
Humans: Friendly toward: Elves, Dwarves
("Hostile" or "Neutral" would be assumed to be everyone not listed as "friendly")

Yeah good idea Jordan.
Maybe we can potential pull some example pictures from the LOR Flickr group pool once everything is set-up that way people can visually recognize certain races too.

This is a great list and addition to LoR. I think it's good to formally identify the other races and it's a good idea to include what figs are commonly used to make them. The Orcs and Trolls and Goblins are usually what I get confused with...
If it's easier, I wouldn't mind putting most of these figs together and photographing close ups of them for this list!

Same here, I could probably put together a few pairs of figures.

Thanks for all the great feedback guys, good to see so much interest in this thread Zach Bean , Isundir , str0ngbad - I've added Wolfmen/Werewolves as their own race and also split Vampires off as their own race from the Undead. They seem unique enough to be their own distinct race of the undead. Still not sure about if shape shifters are their own race (or would they count as a creature instead or just using magic to change?) Daken the Bladesmith , Zach Bean , AK_Brickster - Great idea, I've added the "Friendly Towards" version for now as listing every relationship would get a bit crazy. Once we've got all the races relatively set out I might end up doing a matrix showing their status towards each other in far more detail. Zach Bean , jman44 , Lego3364 - Sounds awesome, if you post them on your Flickr accounts and then I can added the image/link above each race, should make the race encyclopaedia looks very snazzy. Not sure how you want to all organise who does which race, I could post below a bulletted list of all the races so far and then we can add a persons name against each one whose doing the photo? I'll get round to properly filling in the info for each race I know sometime this weekend. In the meantime if you have a good description for a race, have you sub-race/tribe or know any more info for any of these races feel free to post it here as usual. Once again thanks for all the great feedback everyone, the list is filling out nicely .

I wouldn't worry too much about filling out a whole matrix. The "friendly toward" should be enough of a general guideline while still giving players the chance to write their stories with plenty of free license creatively. (I mean, who doesn't want to see a story done about an Orc/Human/lizard man love triangle??)

Well, Here's a list of pictures I could do. Humans, Dwarfs, Elves, Orcs, Goblins, Skeletons, Okay cool- then I can do Trolls, Lizardfolk, Vampires, Cyclopses, and Minotaurus. And possibly some in the Undead category (Draugr and Lich). Once the next wave of minifigures come out it will be easier to do a few of these What's left are Giants, Ratmen, and Werewolves/Wolfmen from the main categories on the list.

For the pictures I was thinking we could just pull existing pictures, but if you guys have the time to accurately depict all those races that's great! I could potentially take care of the giants, but I'd have to use the one idea/technique I've seen done before since I don't have the long Woody legs.

AK_Brickster - Cool, I'll keep it simple and keep the friendly towards field. Saves me a job No rush on pictures, whenever is best for everyone involved. Only thing to consider is maybe for each of the races to keep it to a single picture that includes the main race and all the major sub races in (e.g. Undead picture would have the skeletons, zombies, ect in the same picture).

Awesome idea isundir, like you said we've not yet got an oriental themed race so should open up a lot more build/part possibilities. I've got plenty of ninjago stuff so would work nicely (plus the crima croc stuff is not too far off bring oriental anyways). What does everyone else think of this idea? If everyone is cool I can update the race characteristics to be that they have a oriental theme to them, should make them far more unique
