I like to dabble in the Sci-Fi / Space / Cyberpunk themes and for the past year me and a few other guys I talk to have been experimenting with the idea of a theme mash-up between those and Castle. I've been calling it Cyber Castle; think of something like the Tech-West theme group on Flickr. If these sets are a mix of space and castle like they're rumored to be that'd be really cool. I'm not so hot on the whole Steampunk infussion idea though. Steampunk always feels like a bunch of brass and brown pieces hastily thrown together. If done right it can look cool don't get me wrong, but more often than not I feel like it's just kind of, eh. But hey, that's just my opinion.

To me Steampunk is more Victorian Era with crazy over the top Steam Engine creations like Steam Golems and Airships and doesn't need to be a brown bronze splurge... that said if anybody ever creates a Lands of Roawia in a Castle Sci-Fi Mash-Up setting I'd be very interested in joining that however I would more imagine it as some sort of Warhammer 40K universe for LEGO. I'm not sure if true Cyber Punk lends itself well to Castle in Space, that is I'm thinking of the 'film noir detective with great social decay in sci-fi' as the definition of Cyber Punk.

Oh man... this has got fail written all over it... But I'm not 10 years old so what do I know.
(ps not too sure how kindly Merlins-Beard looks on confidential pictures, but possibly a barn door, horse bolted situation).

(ps not too sure how kindly Merlins-Beard looks on confidential pictures, but possibly a barn door, horse bolted situation). They look like sets that were made 30 years too late, I can see this appeal to Nostalgic AFOL's who want a Retro Space/Castle Hybrid theme and maybe to kids (I'm sure I wouldn't have liked this as a kid though but maybe times have changed) but it's definitely not for me. If it's not alright to post that kind of stuff here (why wouldn't it be? it is all over the interwebs anyway) then an admin will prolly delete my post. Edit* there is also rumored to be a 'Library' set, which at the moment is the one thing I'm still curious about, I half expect it to be a retro robotic dragon spaceship with books stored inside though.

At least we see the return of The Black Falcons. :> The knights in the first picture have that same symbol.
Edit: And do you guys see that giant castle in the Back-Ground? That looks pretty flippin sweet.

I am afraid the background might be the only thing that is castle. According to what I read, the 'castle' is something on tank treads...

Looks like a treasure-trove for parts (lots of blue stuff for Garheim, maybe?) but I probably won't buy any of the sets unless they are on clearance.

Some neat parts, but I doubt I'll get any of this theme...

Well I knew it wouldn't be Castle + a more cyberpunk sci-fi/space styling, but nonetheless I think I'll probably check out at least one set in store. At least Lego is willing to experiment and put out lines that may not make a ton of profit. Experimentation is a key to success in my book.

Bummer, I was hoping these would be a little more...developed? But I can see it being really appealing to the younger kids, which of course is their target audience. We saw it with Ninjago with them having advanced tech and those sets have really progressed in the past few years so hopefully we'll see the same thing with this series should it last as long.
Im honestly looking more forward to the "lava monster" figs than the actual knights, they could be a kind of red Orc or something. Not too many castle building parts though...
That knight's armor/helmet on the back of the robo-horse looks pretty promising to me. I guess we'll see as it gets closer to release date
