Brickset has just published a list of 2016 lego set names revealed on amazon.de brickset.com/article/16059The whole list makes a fairly interesting read, but I'm guessing 'Nexo Knights' is the rumoured space/castle theme for 2016. By the sounds of the set names they have a game element similar to the Ninjago spinners or the Chima rip-cord thingies. Here's the list: *snip*
The 'ultimate [insert cool name]' makes me think of the Chima and superhero ultimate builds, basically 'constraction' figures, which brings back awful memories of Knights Kingdom, but I may be wrong. I like the sound of Jestro's Companions of Darkness, as it makes me think of an evil Jester baddy, which would be a change from the usual evil wizard antagonist. Any thoughts? What do the set's make you think of? ~ andhe

Someone pointed out that there is a "robo" horse so if it is castle, that would be queer... They might be, but are action figures likely to be just ten bucks? I hope not anyway.

I really hope this is, as rumored, a castle/steampunk mix. If so that would create a goldmine of fantastic pieces.

Maybe I was think more along the lines of the Chima 'Legend Beast' sets which are/were about $10. As the the 'steampunk' idea, I think people are misunderstanding or misusing the term. Steam-punk "refers to a subgenre of science fiction and sometimes fantasy that incorporates technology and aesthetic designs inspired by 19th-century industrial steam-powered machinery." I think this is more likely to be a spacey theme with a castle aesthetic. Along the lines of 80's cartoon 'Visionaries' (google it kids). So knights and swords etc... but in space (no, not star wars...). Just my guess.

I "fixed" the list I am not really keen on the idea of space knights, but I guess we'll see what it looks like before I pass judgement.

Oops... I'll get rid of the list but seems a bit like a 'barn door, horse bolted' situation...

If people are desperate to read it then it's easy enough to find on other forums etc Wouldn't want TLG's legal department abseiling into our houses to slap us with prosecution action.
People seem to still be pushing the 'steampunk' rumour, along the lines of the Fantasy era theme. So more 'castle punk' really. But still intrigued to see what it ends up looking like, even if it's not quite pure castle...

I'm wondering if this might be something along the lines of the genre of the recent Isles of Aura collab.

This is being billed as Lego's next 'Big Bang' theme, ie a replacement for Chima. So named characters, a tv show/cartoon and books etc.
I think the blend of fantasy/technology that Chima and Ninjago have displayed is probably more the lines to think along.

Hmm I'm not sure how to feel about this new theme, if it fits the the style of Chima and Ninjago it could be okay since we'll be getting a lot of sets out of it. But if it's more of a space theme with castle styling/elements I think I'll be more disappointed as I was really hoping for a new authentic castle series that had similarities to the style of the LoTR/Hobbit sets with design of figs and weapons and such. I guess I'll have to wait for pics before making a full judgement. Hopefully the figs and weapons aren't too "spacey" looking so they'll fit the traditional castle builds majority of us do. BUT the Chima and Ninjago series have brought out quite a few cool new pieces so all hope might not be lost.

Just thinking about how nice some of the Ninjago and Chima torso prints are, if they can give us a few options that are more "traditional" and less stylized with buckles and electronics, it could be a really good line. Fingers crossed!

The idea sounds really neat, if done right. If not, just another theme I don't need to worry about spending my money on.
