All Castle and no other LEGO builds makes Emmitt a dull boy, so here's my take on this famous battle. Apparently there was a huge reenactment this year in New Orleans for the 200th Anniversary...missed it. This build was for the WAMALUG display at the National Museum of the Marine Corps on April 11th. 100% LEGO except for the custom flags. ——————————
A humorous note, while at the museum a man and woman stopped by, and looking at the battle he said, "Oh dear, I hope the British win!" To which I replied, "They get slaughtered!" The woman turned away, quite unhappy, then the man said, "My wife is British..." Oops. Cheers, Gary

Hi Gary, very well done, I really admire you for your dedication to rebuild historical scenes in Lego. In your experience, do these displays work as an eye-catcher and initiate a conversation about the event itself? You know, like teaching stuff to people who only thought "hey, it's Lego, isn't it? Let's have a look." A humorous note, while at the museum a man and woman stopped by, and looking at the battle he said, "Oh dear, I hope the British win!" To which I replied, "They get slaughtered!" The woman turned away, quite unhappy, then the man said, "My wife is British..." Oops. I hope the poor man did not have to experience a reenactment of that battle later at home... Cheers, Adam

Hilarious as always, Adam! Thanks Gary and how about the question? Oh yes absolutely. Now, a number of people, reconizing it's about history, generally blink and wander off disenterested. Generaly tend to be female teenagers... But an equal number are drawn to it, and I have gotten some really outstanding comments and had really good conversations with people interested in history. So yes, they work very well for a subset of people. Along with John Rudy and my son Joshua, we do a big Civil War display at Brickfair Virginia every year, and our crowds tend to be larger than most of the displays. except for Sci-Fi and Military.
