I know what you're thinking, "Whaaaaat??? AK_Brickster is BUILDING something?!?!?" Yes, it's true! Pinch me, I must be dreaming! That was quite a shocker Good luck with the project, I am looking forward to the WIPs. I made my suggestions on your Flickr. Cheers, Adam

Short text-based update added to first post. No photos this time. I will take more photos once I get a bit more progress done on the other half of the basement.

4/6/15
I didn't get a ton of work done on this over the weekend, but I did manage to cobble most of one base plate (the one shown in the pic), including removing the 2x2 jumper plates and replacing with more 1x1 plates/tiles. I also built out the storage area and prison cells a little bit, adding some shelves to the storage area, anchoring the laid-down barrels to the wall so they won't fall over when moving the MOC, and adding a small bed to the largest prison cell that I'm considering to be for higher-class political prisoners. Each prison cell also got a "honey-bucket". My goal is to get all of the furnishings and floor tiling/cobbling done before the walls get tall enough to make placing those items prohibitive. I also have a small BrickLink order coming in with some light bley prison door frames so that I can use those in place of the black ones that are placeholders in the most recent photo.
More photos coming soon Are you making the shelves in the storage area stand alone or anchored/part of the wall? Btw, from the perspective of practicality something just hit me - prison area next to the storage area?

Shelves are "stand alone" in that they vertical supports are exposed, but they are more like "built ins". You'll be able to see more clearly the next time I take a photo.
As for food storage next to the prison, why would that be an issue? Maybe you're thinking I was going to have my armory right there?

well if that's a food store for guards and prison it makes sense.... not sure if I would want food stores next to the honey pots

Thanks guys! I'm hoping to get more done this weekend. Will plan on more photos once the basement is complete. I'm open to any suggestions you may have as well.

I can't believe the gall you have ; building something for yourself instead of devoting yourself wholly to the forum for our benefit. It's really wonderful to see you are getting some time for your own big project. I think the cobbling looks much better without the jumper plates and am feeling a little sheepish for not putting the effort into planning my bigger projects the way you are. Furnishing rooms before finishing the walls seems like such an obvious thing to do that is absolutely contrary to my nature. I look forward to watching this take shape and learning a thing or two.

I was going to write one up the other day and must have gotten distracted. I will work on one right now.
